Location

In Barcelona, Hostal L'Antic Espai overlooks the Gran Via de les Cortes Catalanes near Plaza de Catalunya in the Eixample District, the cradle of Modernism by Anton Gaudì, where, in the elegant Paseo de Gracia, you can find the extraordinary Casa Battló and La Pedrera (Casa Milà).

The famous Ramblas of Barcelona are just a few minutes walk from L'Antic Espai inn. Walking along this lively street will bring you to Port Vell where you'll find the large statue of Columbus and the modern business center, Maremagnum; behind it, there is a surprising aquarium and numerous nightclubs.

And nearby, the Barceloneta. The old fishing neighborhood is now a first-class tourism center that has not become any less lively, as you can see from the marvelous Iglesia de San Miguel and the traditional Mercado de la Barceloneta.

A short walk is all that separates guests at L'Antic Espai inn and one of the great masterpieces of Barcelona: Palau de la Música Catalana. An incredible theater, an example of magnificent architectural modernism, built with enameled glasses and crystals. Amazing!

Besides its thousands of restaurants and nightclubs that enliven its nights, Barcelona offers: the spectacular hill of Montjuic (where the Olympic Ring is located, the Fundación Joan Miró and the Nuevo Jardín Botánico), the works at the MNAC (Museo Nacional de Arte de Catalunya), the Museo Picasso and the Museo de Historia de Catalunya (the first Sunday of the month, entrance is free for everyone); the Iglesia de Santa Maria del Mar, the Mercado del Born, the Parque de la Ciudadela and many others. Have fun!

If you head south, traveling parallel to Las Ramblas, you'll enter the Barrio Gótico, where, among the crowded Medieval streets and fascinating squares, you'll admire the beautiful Plaza del Rey and the somber Iglesia de Santa Maria del Pi; this is where you'll find the exuberating architecture of the Catedral de Barcelona dedicated to Santa Eulàlia.

Barcelona is especially known for the Sagrada Familia, the imposing and unfinished Gaudì basilica, reaching the sky with its towers; a place that, along with the surreal and romantic Parc Güell, is worth a visit by those staying in this splendid Mediterranean capital.
